To ignore the past yet fail to plan for the future leads us to the edge of what “might have been.”
God wants us to learn from the past, not pitch a tent there. Just as we can’t safely drive a car forward by constantly looking in the rearview mirror, neither can we move into our future by living in the past. If we try, we become a relic of the past rather than a promise for the future.
When God calls us home, we don’t want to be shown “what might have been,” for that would mean we missed it!
There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off (Proverbs 23:18).
